Dental patients in Pendle, Lancashire, are set to benefit from up to 10,000 new NHS dental places this year, according to reports.
A minimum of five thousand NHS places will be made available throughout 2010 at three new dental surgeries at the Brierfield Health Centre .
A further 4,000 patients will be able to access dental care at the Dental Clinic in Harrison Street, Barnoldswick, which is set to be expanded.
The extra capacity comes in addition to the 3,500 new places that have been created at existing dental practices in Nelson, Colne and Barrowford over the past twelve months.
The extension of dental care provision is being created by the local health commission, NHS East Lancashire, as part of its strategy to tackle limited access to dentists in the area.
The new clinics at the Brierfield Health Centre are set to start accepting patients over the coming weeks, while the soon-to-be expanded Dental Clinic in Barnoldswick is expected to start seeing new patients by spring.
